FAA Ground School onboard Midway, San Diego
This year the NSCC will assume oversight of the Flying Midshipmen
FAA Ground School which will be conducted on board the USS Midway
Museum in San Diego, CA. This notice is to give a forewarning of the
school for planning purposes as we will have 24 cadet slots available.
No other youth groups will be participating in this class so NSCC
is responsible to fill all the slots. This school, and Judge Colby's
in Marietta, are for all cadets interested in pursuing the ground
school portion of the Private Pilot License. Again, this message is
just for planning purposes ... no need to contact the COTC until the
course is announced on COMPASS. Of note, if the cadet passes the course
on the Midway, they will be able to take the FAA Exam on the last
day of the course. Must be 15 to take the FAA Exam. All berthing and
galley services will be on board the Midway. Tentative dates are 20
July – 1 August. LCDR Manoogian, SRD for Region 11 will be the COTC
